Well, the ingenuity and dedication of the open source community has surprised me again. This weekend I got sucked into an open source computer game called The Battle for Wesnoth. It is a turn-based strategy war game, similiar in spirit to the classic Panzer General games. I am astonished because this game has solid graphics, a good user interface, and above all, is fun. The story is a bit lame, and the gameplay isn't exactly innovative, but it is still very impressive that this package is free. It is worth taking a look if you like strategy games. I think it would also make a good starting point for people to design their own games.
