This book was much better than I thought it was going to be. It is both funny and heartbreaking, serious and entertaining. I was surprised when I turned to the first page and discovered that the whole thing is written in thick Scottish slang. Reading the first chapter was challenging, but just like when reading A Clockwork Orange, your brain soon adapts to the new words. When I got to the end, I discovered that there was a glossary at the back. I wish I had discovered that before I read the whole thing.
